word geekery, “hunger games edition”

(h/t Bryan Bessette)

Like everyone else in North America, I’ll be headed to the multiplex this weekend for Catching Fire, the new Hunger Games movie.  From the reviews I’ve seen already, I’m pretty sure that Fire will be a very good movie, much better than the book (which is my least favorite of the series).

Odds are that if you’re reading this blog, you’re inclined to see this movie, too, so to warm you up for Fire (ba–DUM–bum!), here’s a look at some of the words most often used in the Hunger Games books, as compared with two other very popular YA speculative fiction series: Twilight and Harry Potter.  As an author and an English major through college, I found this article fascinating: if you’re a word geek, too, I think you’ll agree.
