authors’ night at fisherman’s inn: december 5

Tomorrow night from 7:00–9:00, I’ll join a slew of other Eastern Shore authors at Fisherman’s Inn at the Kent Narrows in Grasonville, MD for book sales and signing.  The other authors are:

LAURA AMBLER illustrated the children’s picture books in the Tank Series: THE FISH TANK, THE TURTLE TANK, and THE RAT TANK.  A young adult novel, BIG SKYE RANCH, which Ambler wrote with Mala Burt and published in 2010, won awards at the Paris and London Book Festivals, an IPPY Award and the 2010 National Indie Excellence Award for e-book fiction.

ROBERT BIDINOTTO of Grasonville is the author of HUNTER, which became the #1 Amazon Kindle bestseller in “Mysteries & Thrillers” and “Romantic Suspense,” and a Wall Street Journal “Top Ten Fiction Ebook.”  Robert also is an award-winning author and editor of nonfiction books, magazines, essays, reviews, and investigative articles for Reader’s Digest and many other magazines and newspapers.

MALA BURT’s first novel, A DREAM ACROSS TIME, won a Foreward Magazine “Book of the Year” award, as did the sequel, A CIRCLE OF DREAMS.  In 2011, Mala and Laura Ambler wrote a Christmas memories book titled THE SANTA DIARIES to benefit Christmas in St. Michaels, and this year their original play (with the same name) will be performed by the Liberty Showcase Theatre in Baltimore, MD.

NICK HOXTER, “Kent Island Born N’ Bred”, has dedicated his life to educating the public on his beloved home on Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore.  Within the pages of his three books he will take you on A WALK BACK IN TIME with his account of GROWING UP ON KENT ISLAND in the 1940’s and through present day historical explorations in NICK HOXTER’S KENT ISLAND, THE FINAL VISIT TO THE ISLAND OF YESTERDAY: FEATURING TALES OF THE THREE OLDE ISLANDERS.

Brent at last year’s book signing

BRENT LEWIS’ books are REMEMBERING KENT ISLAND: STORIES OF THE CHESAPEAKE and A HISTORY OF THE KENT ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.  Brent has published articles in a number of magazines, contributes regularly to the Kent Island Heritage Society newsletter, and conducts the society’s oral history program.  Brent is working on his first novel.  Follow Brent’s blog for more!

MARK LIDINSKY lives on Kent Island and is a member of the Edgar Allan Poe Society & Kent Island Heritage Society.  His first novel, CAPTAIN BOYLE’S TREASURE, is historical fiction about Kent Island in 2013, with possible buried treasure from the War of 1812.  The second of the Kent Island Mysteries, THE HEADLESS OYSTERMAN, was just released.   The Oyster Wars of the Chesapeake haunt present day Kent Island in this historical fiction tale of revenge, murder and watermen justice.

Jerry Sweeney

JERRY SWEENEY, who grew up on Long Island, is an army vet, a graduate of Michigan, and a retired New York magazine executive now living in Trappe.  WIZARD HO! is Jerry’s sixth published novel and the fifth in The Columbiad series that follows one family through the 20th Century.  The other books in the series include: EAGLES RISING, FIRST LIGHTS, CRASHING INTO SUNRISE and YO COLUMBIA!  Jerry is the current president of the Eastern Shore Writers Association.

I’ll be selling and signing copies of DRAGONTAMER’S DAUGHTERS, of course.

In addition, monetary donations for The Star Democrats A Brighter Christmas Fund will be accepted at the signing event, as will the donation of new toys for Adopt-A-Bear Queen Anne’s.  Fisherman’s Inn will be serving in the dining and bar areas as usual.  We hope to see you there!
